Okra or Bhindi is a vegetable made in almost all parts of India. It is one of the vegetables which most kids love. Mine loves it too. I am certain that the lunch box from school will return empty on the days “Bhindi – Roti” is given. Sooji Ka Halwa ( Kesri Bhaat )

Sooji Ka halwa or Kesri bhaat is the most commonly made sweet in an indian household. It is offered as prasahad in Kanjake ( as mentioned in my Kala Chana post ). Each family it’s own recipe of Sooji Halwa. I add Besan ( Gram flour ) and it gives it very earthy taste and a lovely colour. Also, there are various types of sooji, coarse or fine. Nankhatai is a variety of cookie popular in India and Pakistan. We have had home made nankhatai since childhood. Nankhatai is still sold in north India, baked freshly in a clay oven.
